BECAUSE WE HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE'
Arising out of the duo's recent film installations Toxic and Salomania, Aftershow is an artists' book of multiple forms, drawing upon Boudry/Lorenz’s extensive archival and theoretical research into experimental film, the history of photography, sound and underground (drag) performances. Exploring imagined and real correspondence with friends and collaborators Werner Hirsch, Sharon Hayes, Ginger Brooks-Takahashi, Yvonne Rainer and Jack Smith, it speaks of events belatedly approached or left unseen, a map of queer temporalities, decolonising practices and activist histories that place the artists in a context of non-convention.
Aftershow is edited by Pauline Boudry/Renate Lorenz with Anja Casser, in collaboration with Electra, and is published by Sternberg Press
