Electra is a London based contemporary art organisation which curates, commissions and produces projects by artists working across sound, moving image,
performance and the visual arts. Through close dialogue with a range of venues and collaborators, we present our projects across the UK and internationally.
At the heart of our practice is a process-based relationship between artist, curator and audiences, which seeks to give the projects space to find their own
rhythm, public outputs, and discourse.
Electra's core aim is to foster a dialogue between a range of disciplines of contemporary artistic practice, to provide a platform for debate and engaged, dynamic investigations of urgent social, political and cultural questions.
Projects produced and curated by Electra to date include, Her Noise: Feminsims and the Sonic (2012, Tate Modern); Pauline Boudry/Renate Lorenz, Toxic (Les Laboratoires D'Aubervilliers and Palais de Tokyo, Paris 2012); The Right to Silence, an event series developed in dialogue with Lawrence Abu Hamdan (The Showroom, 2012); 27 Senses (2010, Chisenhale Gallery, London); Offer and Exchange (2008-2010, Thomas Dane Gallery, Hiscox, Frieze Art Fair, Christie's); Favoured Nations, 5th Nordic Biennale (2009, Momentum, Moss, Norway); group exhibition Sound Escapes (2009, SPACE, London); group exhibition and performance programme 27 Senses (2009, KUBE, Ålesund, Norway); the performance programme Art Now Live (2007, Tate Britain); The Wire 25 season of performances and events to mark The Wire Magazine's 25th anniversary (2007, London); group exhibition Her Noise (2005, South London Gallery; touring 2006 - present); specially commissioned performance and film production Perfect Partner by Kim Gordon, Tony Oursler and Phil Morrison's (2005, The Barbican Centre and 6 venues across the UK and Europe); Christian Marclay's performance Sounds Of Christmas (2004, Tate Modern).
In parallel, Electra runs a steady programme of lectures, workshops and film screenings in its project space, including an ongoing collaborative series of events with OTOProjects.
